Here's What's Important:

• First Payment Reminder: Look out for your billing statement. Your first payment is due at least 21 days after that. Double-check your contact details on your Federal Student Aid account to stay in the loop.  

• Repayment Options: Meet the SAVE Plan—a fresh approach to income-driven repayment that could make monthly payments easier on your wallet and limit your unpaid interest. You can compare plans using the Federal Student Aid Loan Simulator. 

• For Public Service Workers: On the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) track? Keep your employment certification up-to-date to make sure every payment counts. 

• Stay Alert: Scams are out there. Ignore unsolicited offers claiming to give you loan forgiveness or reduced payments. If something smells fishy, you can file a complaint with the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI). 

 

SBCC Direct Student Loan Processing Changes for 2024-2025

• Complete and submit a 2024-2025 FAFSA
• Meet all File Verification requirements and receive an Award email
• You must complete and submit a SBCC Direct Loan Request Form and meet all federal eligibility requirements
